My last post was before the school year started, so that definitely attributes to the lack of posts. With 4 kids and all of their activities, plus a full time job and a few side hustles, the blog is the last item on the list!
I want to share with you today, one key item that keeps me going. Some have heard of it, and maybe you have too? Coffee.

It isn’t just any coffee though. I am referring to Bullet Proof Coffee. In another post, I told you that I subscribe to the Ketogenic diet. Well, Bullet proof coffee is one of the staples in that diet.
“Bulletproof Coffee is a great way to get healthy fats first thing in the morning,” says Kerry Bajaj, a Be Well Health Coach at Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in New York City. Having healthy fats first thing in the morning will signal to your body to burn fat for energy during the day. Starting the day with healthy fats also provides energy, is good for cognitive function, and can support your hormonal system.
BPC is also a great way to get calories and rev up your metabolism in the morning if you are someone who doesn’t normally have breakfast. The caffeine and blend of fats may also give you a boost of energy that will last for hours, and BPC drinkers also claim that they don’t get jittery from BPC as some do from normal coffee. This may be because the digestion of fats slows down the absorption of the caffeine.
I personally started with a pre-made BPC. I was nervous to invest money into the materials needed. And hey, after 25 years of drinking coffee, I can honestly say that the Barista a my local coffee shop was the one who made my coffee 95% of the time.
After my first taste, I was hooked! I told my co-workers it was the high Octane fuel I needed to get through my graveyard shift!
So, I started doing a bit of research and found this great starter kit on amazon. It had great reviews and made life pretty simple.
I also purchased a clever coffee dripper since I am the only coffee drinker in my house….one cup at a time is enough.

Bulletproof Coffee Recipe
Makes 1 serving
- Brew 1 cup high quality, organic coffee
- 1-2 tablespoons MCT oil (MCTs stands for medium chain triglycerides. Another term for “triglycerides” is fatty acids.)
- 1-2 tablespoons grass-fed, unsalted butter (like Kerry Gold butter)
Combine all three ingredients in a high-speed blender for about 20 seconds, until the drink takes on a frothy, foamy consistency. Enjoy!
